The rules. Short version.

By installing or using VINly you agree to the following. We've kept it short and plain. If anything's unclear, email support@vinly.dev.

1. License

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use VINly on devices you own or control, for your own personal use.

2. AI-generated content

Reports are produced by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, Sonnet 4.6) grounded against public sources. The output is informational, not authoritative. AI can be wrong. Always confirm critical claims — especially anything that influences whether or how much you pay — with a qualified mechanic or independent inspection before purchasing.

3. Not a mechanic

VINly is a pre-purchase research tool. It does not replace a hands-on inspection by a qualified mechanic. It does not perform live diagnostics, scan vehicles, or detect mechanical defects in real time.

4. Marketplace independence

VINly is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Facebook, Marketplace, Meta, Cars.com, AutoTrader, CarGurus, or any other listing platform. We work with screenshots you choose to upload.

5. In-app purchases

Payments are handled by Apple via the App Store. Refunds follow Apple's standard refund process — submit at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not store payment information.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of VINly is capped at the amount you paid for the specific report involved.

VINly is provided "as is" without warranties beyond what is required by applicable law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including any purchase decision you make based on a report.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use VINly to break the law, harass sellers, scrape listings at scale, or upload content you don't have the right to use. Don't try to reverse-engineer the app or its services.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced inside the app and at the top of this page.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes go to the courts in that jurisdiction.

10. Age

VINly is rated 4+ in the App Store. The app is designed for adults making a vehicle purchase decision. By using VINly you confirm you are of legal age to enter a binding contract in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 — see Privacy Policy §6 for details.
